This is one of my demo environments using 3ds max. Then started extruding to get the buildings. I used the bridge modifier on 3ds max to connect the building.

This is my third island I made using different methods to get rocks to link with the beach type setting as well as inspiration from the Maldives. I used a plane and the noise modifier to present the randomness of water/waves.
